  • My BWC 2009 Progress

    Sitting in the shadow of the mammoth fur tutorial release, (haven't gone to check it out yet) so this is basically my attempt at cow fur.

    Just note I still have to tweak a bit. The color, the specularity and the foot textureing. I still have to add some bump textures as well.

    p.s. I have less than two weeks to pull the whole scene together, wish me luck :)

    I think my face exploded. Or imploded. Ohhhhh sinuses.

    Still in the middle of the finale, although I'm explanding to see if I can keep up momentum on the ending whilst also addressing small problem shots throughout the rest of the film.

    I'm currently sitting in a Starbucks at 5am, writing this update, responding to emails, and revising some interview responses. Also, via the power of the internet™, I'm watching a rawther complex shot render on Nathan McCoy's machine, as the frames are popped out one by one; a fun thing to be able to do in realtime.

    -Ohp! 2 more frames are done!

    This week I posted a short blurb on facebook. Something like, "This movie will be awesome!" and I got a bunch of responses from folks- most of whom had worked on the film in one form or another over the years. Actors and extras, prop makers, soundtrack composers, demolition enthusiasts, family, friends (all!) It really made it start to sink in: this has been a pretty incredible journey, and we've all gained a lot of allies along the way.

    This is the way we decide to organize our work during the weeks.

    We don’t know if it is the best plan for this kind of project, but it’s an attempt,
    so the next time we’ll be able to manage the planification of the work in a better way.

    The whole project takes 12 weeks but we consider only 10 weeks for completion.
    The latest 2 week will be useful to correct hypothetical mistakes or to refine the result of the video.
