Hi all! Shaman’s 1st modeling stage is completed. Here are some quick screen captured images…

Note: Geometry pieces of hair/beard/brows are temporary and meant to outline shape. They will be replaced with hair particles.

Next stage will involve topology refinement to face & robe, adding remaining clothing details, adding inside mouth. Then lastly, sculpting final details/surface will follow.shaman2

  • Springs: New force type
    Tinker Code - 2009-12-14 19:05:50

Searching to add spring forces for the fluid particles I ended up with a nice patch that adds also spring force as a new general force type that could be used like any other blender forces: for objects, particles, etc. Needless to say the importance and wide use cases for spring forces in 3D, previously [...]

Some day I'll get some nice outdoors time for more than a couple of days, and forget about my computer and work, and it'll be great, and...a man can dream...

    Meanwhile, in the real world...

Day 2 of my hair tutorial was published a while back, it can be found here:
    http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/3d-art/create-incredible-looking-hair-effects-with-particles-in-blender-day-2/

Also, I've done a quick sketch this past weekend with Gimp and the great presets from Gimp Paint Studio.

Finally, I've been testing 2.5 for a while now, and, even though there are some things that I don't like about it (I just have to get used to them though), there are a lot of new features that have put a smile in my face since I've first tried them. It happened with colour management, then with the new sculpting improvements, and now, indirect diffuse lighting. :)

I've done this on Saturday (I've taken the idea from a friend's wallpaper), and only used AAO and indirect lighting in that scene, no lamps. I can only grin when I look at that image and think about what it would have taken to do that in 2.49. yay!

Incidentally, I'm doing a quick/small overview of current 2.5 for cgtuts, so, if any of you would like to see anything mentioned in it, feel free to leave a comment.

The reason why it’s such a tight crop (and lit with low key light) is because the rest of car aren’t detailed yet. :D
