or what I managed to pull out, you'll decide for yourself. I don't really know how much is there to learn, if anything at all.

So, I've been battling all day long against myself trying to decide whether to post this or not. Looks like 'yes' won, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this.

They published my first video tutorial over at cg.tutsplus.com. Click in the image to go see the screencast.

  • Status Update
    BMesh Integration Blog - 2009-09-02 19:31:45

The BMesh project has been going well.  A new developer, Wael El Oraiby, has joined the project.  He’s been very helpful in porting some of the remaining old editmesh tools to BMesh. BMesh is now much closer to being feature-complete (and testable) then it was before.  Subsurf is working, including uv/vcol interpolation (though the “subsurf uv” [...]
  • Cartoon of the team !
Sintel, the Durian Open Movie Project - 2009-09-02 18:21:03

    final-cartoon-team-durian-colors-all

During the preproduction workshop ( last week )  I started at the restaurant on evening some little cartoons of the Durian team ( black and white on paper )  ; and cause I very liked to work on , I scan them and colorise them with Gimp instead of doing some concept art. ( If some of you are interrested in the technics I use to get this result let me know on the comments ; I can probably write a blog entry with this classical comics workflow ).Note the design of the tee-shirts ; now we must print some “Durian T-shirt” ; and why not on the Blender e-shop ?

Today we went to Cineco with Ton and Colin ( those who follow our Identi.ca or Twitter already know it ) to watch B.B.B in a audio studio with pure ThX Dolby Digital cinema sound ; it was a really good experience, and we enjoyed a lot to talk with them ; very passionate by their work.

Oh and we are happy here cause the money-metter display today a beautifull over 1000 paid :)

    Thanks !

  • Blender Java Port
    BlenderNation - 2009-09-02 15:14:00

Jason LaDere has started a Blender to Java port as a personal learning project. So far, he claims that basic functionality is already working (unconfirmed, as it doesn't run on OSX yet). I must say that I have serious doubts about the usefulness of a Java version of Blender (maintaining it would be a hell [...]
  • maya2010 "release notes"
    digital janitor - 2009-09-02 14:00:00

I kind of like the new "release notes" (they published one before, and then reworked it and released this one).

    7 pages with "what's fixed in maya2010"
122 pages with "limitations" and workarounds

    BlenderNation - 2009-09-02 10:14:55

I ran into this texture site the other day. They currently have 205 textures, neatly categorized and all licensed under a CC-BY license. Maybe you'll find it useful. Enjoy!

    BlenderNation - 2009-09-02 09:00:50

Virgílio Vasconcelos writes: I can finally show the video here, since it already had its premiere on Brazilian MTV. :) I was responsible for the 3D modeling and animation on this. The studio I work at (NitrocorpZ) has other apps in its production pipeline, but Blender is the only one used for 3D stuff. The smoke was made [...]
