From new years in the blue mountains. Very happy with how the mamiya is performing here on this first roll of slide film (100asa) I’ve put through it!

  • CG Cookie is Hiring
    Blender Cookie - 2010-01-06 22:07:48

Growth is good and the amount of munching you guys have been doing is allowing us to bring on more talented instructors to help in the kitchen. So officially CG Cookie is looking to bring on 1-2 more authors specifically in the Architecture or Game Development arena in Blender, and is looking for  Modo and [...]

  • Development Update (odds and ends)
Sintel, the Durian Open Movie Project - 2010-01-06 18:09:41

Since my last post and over the holidays I have mostly been working on smaller things which I didn’t even think it worth posting about, some of these were requested for specific tasks, others were just for fun. Recorded 5 videos, read on for the other 3.

And before you ask, all this is in the public subversion builds.

    Shape Key Transfer

    Grease Pencil Depth

    Camera Switching

    AutoDepth (back from 2.4x)

    Baking (back from 2.4x)

    Other developments

    • Solidify Modifier (much requested, after the editmode tool)
    • Sequencer copy Paste, needed for comparing 2 versions of the animated storyboards.
    • Presets, Render/Cloth/SSS
    • API Reference, now generate using the sphinx documentation system (used by Python)
Access by Right Click “View Docs”, Can be searched unlike old API docs.
    • Fast ray cast, function that can be called from python.
    • Passing on maintenance of Rigify to Nathan, development continues in smaller fixes and refinements.

I just found out that my gallery is taking the ultra high-res prints of Tidal to the Kunst Salon (Art Salon) in eindhoven. The event will take place Januari 28th/31st. And of course next month the work will travel to Belgium for the Affordable Art Fair in Brussels as well. Stop by to have a look if you're in the area!

  • Blender 2.5 r25772
    Letwory Interactive - 2010-01-06 11:25:30

So, the holidays are over. For me it was a time of very little internet usage and little activity in Blender channels. But now I give you Blender 2.5 r25772 builds for both 32bit and 64bit Windows.

It’s been only a few weeks since my previous builds, but between that post and this there have been over 300 commits. Please refer to the commit logs to see what has been changed, added, removed.

As always, the packages are self-extracting 7z-archives (you can still use your locally installed 7z if you are so inclined – just right-click on the archive and choose the proper action from the 7z context menu), and scanned for viruses with AVG Anti-Virus 9.0.725.

As interesting extra information: I have now bought Windows 7 Ultimate retail, and the install went smooth. At least my Blender development and build environment is up and running! Although I’ve got this covered now, you are still free to donate (I’d like to be able to get the next Visual Studio when it comes out, for instance). Check the Blender Development page elsewhere on my blog.

At any rate, enjoy these new builds!

    /Nathan

    Blender 3D Architect - 2010-01-06 02:58:11

There is a great hype about the development and new tools released for the upcoming Blender 3D 2.50, or should I say Blender 3D 2.60? This probably will be the final and stable release of the 2.50 development cycle at the end of the Durian project. I can see lots of new users starting to [...] Related posts:
