    It’s time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 28 of Blenderart Magazine.

    The theme for this issue is “Up to Speed” with Blender 2.5+

    The Blender 2.5 series has been out for a while now, and while it still is under going a lot of changes and refinement, it is stable enough for some serious testing and playing.

    So let’s get everyone “Up to Speed” with Blender 2.5 and how to best take advantage of all the wonderful new toys and options available.

    Since there is a lot of ground that can be covered, this is going to be something of an open theme. Which means you can submit articles and tutorials on just about anything as long as Blender 2.5 is used.

    Here are a few ideas to consider:

    • Work flow
    • Tips, techniques
    • Tools: both new or improved tools
    • Personal and or commercial projects in 2.5
    • Surprise me!

    Also wanted, great shaders, materials and node setups for great looking materials and effects.

    As usual you can also submit your best renders based on the theme of the issue. As the theme of this issue is somewhat open, feel free to send in anything done in Blender 2.5, we are looking for any and all well lit images. Please note if the entry does not match with the theme it will not be published.

    Jangan heran dulu apabila Army mendapatkan majalah ini berubah total. Setelah mengalami 4 edisi ini, redaksi belajar bagaimana memfasilitasi artworks dan akhirnya memutuskan untuk mengusung freestyle layout. Yup, selain tidak merepotkan proses, juga supaya tidak menjadikan bosan pengkoleksinya.

    Genderang animasi open source makin ramai saja. Berbagai event dan workshop telah digelar sepanjang 4 bulan ini. Baik event intern maupun event dari luar forum. Muncul juga para simpatisan FBI di berbagai kota dengan ikatan regional yang semakin mengukuhkan eksistensi kita. Selamat!

    Selain hal diatas, kita juga akan menyambut beberapa hal baru dan penting untuk dicatat. 4 Bulan lagi FBI genap berusia setahun dan segera akan berbenah dan kembali membuat sejarah. Siapkan dirimu, tetap semangat dan teruslah mencipta.

    Hello! B.A.R.S (Blender Army Regional Surabaya) menunjukkan eksistensinya. Setelah beberapa waktu yang lalu telah membuat materi pelatihan blender dan pelatihan kali ini berkesempatan untuk mendemokan Blender di SMA Margie, yaitu salah satu sekolah swasta di Surabaya yang bertaraf Internasional

    Demo blender yang berlangsung kurang lebih 1 jam tersebut diliput oleh stasiun TV lokal Surabaya yaitu SBO TV, yang rencananya akan tayang di TV lokal pada hari Minggu, 2 Mei 2010 pukul 18.30 WIB dalam acara Gadget.

    Dalam kesempatan ini B.A.R.S mendemokan sedikit tentang user interface blender. Sekaligus pengenalan tentang BGE (Blender Game Engine) beserta demonya. Selain itu dalam demo ini BARS juga memutar film animasi yang telah dibuat menggunakan blender.

    Hi everybody!, as is being usual in the last time I leave my blog away and abandoned :S

    I want to write because i have been doing a few interesting things in the last time and i want to share with you!.

    Also my time here at Northampton working in tube project is ending so there’re coming times of changes, back to my lovely country and keep working and living my normal life close to my family and friends.

    One good thing that happens a few days ago is that i participate in the contest to model the backpack of sintel and with the help of Jarred de Beer ( http://www.jarred.co.za ) doing the textures we get a very good result! I only do the mesh. I don’t know what happens with it finally but we are very happy with the result! check it:

    Also for Sintel I made this proposal for the logo contest, very difficult because there’s a lot of very good and cool works posted.

    I’m my free time I help to some cool projects like advertool which is managed by my big and best brother Santiago Lizardo. I only do the logo , and it’s very simple because they are just starting.

    Talking about design, when i went to Harvard for the LibrePlanet Conference I had the possibility to know a few cool people who shows interested in people who design using only free software like inkscape or gimp. So my first collaboration was on libre.fm a project to bring free music trough the web! I made the logo a few weeks ago and recently i made a proposal for the web.

    Meanwhile i was working too in my own short project, called Victor, i have been doing a lot of improvements, now the main set is almost done! I’ve modeled a lot of houses and cars and props to “fill” the blocks of the city. The main character receive a lot of fixes too, in the mesh and in the materials, now looks nicer! Now I’m finishing some problems in the script that i need to solved before I keep going forward in the project :/ Here’s some images of the movie production:

    I dont have too much images from tube, I’m going to write a full post about Tube in the next few days. Anyway here’s some random stuff i did:


    Last but not least, a few days ago I bought a pogo stylus for draw with the iphone and i made some silly sketches in the bus :P

    I think this spaceship – thanks to the power of Blender – is really starting to get together. I like how science fiction this spaceship is. It is high tech without being super high tech.

    The forum that prompted this spaceship keeps on throwing up good advice, hints and tips. One contributor said that the creatures who will be using the spaceship don’t actually look out of windows. everything is VR for them. So I’ve changed the design to feature a sort of camera equiped cockpit.
