I’ve been working on this spaceship model for a few days now, and I’m still at the stage of designing the mesh. I am working with more and more detail however. I’m adding more and more detail to the engines, I’ve added a nice groove around the cockpit and a host of other details. I can’t help thinking that it’s going to be a long time before it appears in the game however.

Although this angle is less impressive, you can see some of the work that has gone into the engines. There are also no longer any separate elements. These renders are from one single mesh, which is going to prove very handy when it comes to making the graphics for the unit that will finally enter the game – apparently.
It took an awful lot of effort to weld the large flattened sphere into the middle of the mesh, it took hours, but i have a feeling it will prove worth it.

And here in this final image you can see that the Franklin now has a turret pointing to the rear, which was mentioned in the stats that describe it in the game.
Of course I’ll continue posting progress on this model as and when I have it.
I’m including the blend file for this model, and updating it as i go along, just in case anyone wants to follow along with the process, treating this spaceship project as something like a super complicated Blender tutorial.
The blend file can be downloaded from this site at the following URI.
