  • Citizen Exclusive Series: Modeling a High Poly Car – part 04
    Blender Cookie - 2012-01-14 14:40:59

Welcome to another Citizen Friday, err Saturday.. Each Friday we are working to produce Citizen content. If you’re not a Citizen, no worries and no need to draw a picture of a monster eating sheep. This isn’t affecting the amount of free tutorials/content to hit the site on a weekly basis. Basically we are just working harder. Of course you are welcome to sign-up today to get access to this exclusive and many more.

Hello and welcome to this Citizen Exclusive series! This series will be covering the entire process of modeling a very detailed, high-poly car in Blender 2.6x. Throughout this series you’ll learn everything you need to know about modeling cars with an edge-by-edge method that focus very heavily on creating clean topology that not only results in a good mesh, it also results in a car model that renders far more realistically.

Part 04 of this series continues laying down the basic topology of the major forms and landmarks for our car and begins to fill in some of the surfaces along the back and top of the car.

  • Beginner Tutorial – Making a sake set!
    Blender Journey - 2012-01-14 10:50:37

As promised, here is a little tutorial for beginners on making a sake set.  I did my best to take it slow and explain everything as I went along, so hopefully it will help those just starting out.  I tried to emphasize some of the things I had difficulty with in the beginning. Enjoy! If [...]

I’m still waiting to get some chemistry to process the 18 or so rolls of 120 film I took in Turkey last November. Until then, I’ve uploaded a collection of street art I saw and shot on digital around the Beyoglu area in Istanbul. It was a beautiful place to be hanging out, and I was impressed by the amount of burgeoning creativity.

  • Process to Go – Episode 17
    processdiary.com - 2012-01-14 00:46:31

First episode for 2012! Loads to chat about: the “In Spaaaace!” anthology is well under way. I’m researching other P.O.D services to see what they offer. Techno-curse has now killed my wacom.

Cover designs have been finalised. From the initial model:

I rendered an image directly out of Blender and created a first draft of the cover:

This sparked something in Mark Harmon’s mind to create the following:

Liking both, but preferring the first, I decided to do two versions: one wide, one closer up on the ship:

I put it to the vote on twitter, over at the illopond thread, and on G+ and the overwhelming response was the first one. So cover has been decided!

Inks are coming along too. Here is page 2:

I’ll be using this page to work out the color palette as well.

I’m planning out some tutorials for the coming months. They’ll focus mainly on blender for illustration (so modelling, texturing, and nodal compositing) but I have at least one more up my sleeve for Sketchbook Pro for those of you still keen to try it.

    More next week!
